Return to normal?

After the excitement of Juneathon has subsided, i’m finally getting into my old routine. Wednesday was a pleasant evening, if rubbish to have had to work so late, Thursday I felt guilty (already?) about the lack of exercise. So I decided to do some more upper body bits to assist in running related weight loss replenishment. I normally do upper body two nights, two runs and play on the bike or something once more each week. Varying the running if I fancy entering a race or some similar silly challenge. It keeps me sane. (Well, some might argue this…i’ll claim it all the same!)

Last year, the running went south for mountainbike practice – the annual trip to the Alps was in preparation for the Megavalanche, a 42km downhill race from Pic Blanc (3300m, the highest ski station above Alpe d’Huez) to a village at 742m via Alpe d’Huez, starting on the glacier and trying not to fall off too much. It was hilarious, especially since my forks broke in Switzerland the week before so I had 2 inches of travel instead of 5. Still came home a respectable 742nd out of 1450 starters, though. This year, no such hectic pursuits are planned, so the running can continue until the heat stops me. He said, hoping!

So tonight, i’ve been out on the bike. Won’t say which one. But it is small. It was speedy, fun, I fell off the back twice, nearly looped it twice more, just avoided the back of a van (rubbish brakes…) and came home smiling. Then read the most amazing meassage ever. Happy days.

Hopefully the sun will be out tomorrow morning and i’ll get a jump in, then it’s off out for the day, probably the race on Sunday so i’ll hope to have something worthwhile to blog then.
